Written and directed by indie filmmaker Cullen Hoback, this high-concept comedy centers on the exploits of eight mental hospital patients who awaken to discover that they've just slept through the apocalypse. Determined to find the edge of the world, the former residents of Lost Acres load into a short, yellow bus and embark upon a cross-country journey to rescue potential survivors and plant the seeds for a new society, fashioned to their liking.

Commanded by Mr. Simón and his beautiful teenage daughter Lily, the Fantastic Circus arrives in a small town. A homeless boy joins the troupe after fleeing a theft. As he does not bear the children's happiness, the evil Makario uses his magic so that the show fails, but the clown Cepillín will stand up to him using the children's smile and laugh as a spell.

The Magician

The scene opens on a theatrical stage. The magician enters from the wings, and making a bow to the audience, removes his coat and hat and they disappear mysteriously in the air. He then takes a white handkerchief from his pocket, holds it over his knees, and his long trousers disappear, and behold! he is clad in knickerbockers. He next makes a pass with a magic wand and a table suddenly appears before the audience, on which is a large pile of tissue paper. The magician takes up the paper and shakes it a few times and three live geese fly out upon the floor. This is a highly pleasing and mystifying subject.
